Zion, Bryce and Capitol Reef

Enjoy a weeklong excursion to nature’s finest. Experience the parks via car, foot, horseback, or ATV. Spend time exploring the trails in Zion and see its Emerald Pools. Visit Bryce Canyon and marvel at its magnificent pink and orange hoodoos. Drive All-American scenic Hwy 12 through Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, on your way to the domes and cliffs in Capitol Reef National Park. Don’t forget your camera!

Day 1: Traveling to Zion

ACTIVITIES:

  • Fly into Las Vegas
  • Drive to Zion
    - 166 miles from Las Vegas
LODGING: Stay near Zion

Day 2: Explore Zion National Park

ACTIVITIES:

  • Tour the Zion National Park Visitor Center and Museum
  • Ride the shuttle into Zion Canyon or drive Hwy 9, the scenic byway through the park
  • Hike some of the many scenic trails. If you’re an avid hiker, try Angels Landing. If you’re looking for a moderate hike, try the Upper or Middle Emerald Pools. Otherwise, try the easy walk to Weeping Rock.
  • Watch "Zion Canyon: Tresures of the Gods" on the Giant Screen in Springdale

  • Park Entrance Fee: $20 per car (valid for 7 days), or $50 for a National Park Pass (valid for one year).
Day 3: Traveling to Bryce Canyon

ACTIVITIES:

  • Drive to Bryce Canyon
    - 83 miles from Zion
  • Enjoy the scenic drive through Zion and up HWY 89.
  • Be sure to walk one of the trails in Bryce Canyon at sunset, the colors are stunning.

  • Park Entrance Fee: $20 per car (valid for 7 days), or $50 for a National Park Pass (valid for one year).

Day 4: Horseback, ATV riding near Bryce

ACTIVITIES:

  • Enjoy a horseback ride through the beautiful rock formations in Red Canyon. Minimum age is 7 years old. This video clip shows some of the excitement of a trail ride in this area.
  • Take a guided ATV ride through the Dixie National Forest surrounding Bryce Canyon National Park. You might even retrace the steps of Butch Cassidy!
  • Consider spending a day hiking in the park. The visitor center there will have information about hiking trails

Day 5: Traveling to Capitol Reef

ACTIVITIES:

  • Drive to Capitol Reef
    - 125 miles from Bryce
  • Drive Historic Highway 12 as you head up to Capitol Reef. Make sure to stop at scenic overlooks and view the Grand Staircase-Escalante. The views are unbelievable!

Day 5: Explore Capitol Reef

ACTIVITIES:

  • Spend the day exploring Capitol Reef National Park.
  • Consider a scenic drive through the park (25 miles round-trip)
  • Guided tours are available as well as nightly informative presentations.

  • Park Entrance Fee: $5 per car (valid for 7 days), or $50 for a National Park Pass (valid for one year)
  • Camping is available in the nearby Fruita District
Day 7: Return home

ACTIVITIES:

  • Drive back to Las Vegas
    - 360 miles from Capitol Reef
  • Spend the night on the strip or catch a flight home
