Skiing On Early Snow
Utah’s mountains have been hit by several early season snow storms and our ski resorts are starting to open up, anticipating another great season. Brighton is already open and reports good skiing.
Here are tentative opening dates for all of our resorts:
Brighton — Nov 17
The Canyons — Nov 19
Solitude — Nov 21
Park City Mountain Resort — Nov 23
Snowbasin — Nov 24
Brian Head — Thanksgiving Week
Alta — TBA
Snowbird — TBA
Powder Mountain — Mid Nov
Deer Valley — Dec 3
Sundance — Dec 9
Wolf Mountain — Dec 17
Beaver Mountain — TBA
Our ski resorts continue to earn top industry rankings. Ski Magazine readers rank Deer Valley as the number one resort in North America. Skiing Magazine ranks Alta/Snowbird as the top ski area in the US, and the number two in North America. Alta and Snowbird are located adjacent to each and they offer a combined pass, so Skiing Magazine lumps them together for its rankings. This is the fourth year in a row they have earned that top US ranking.
During the off-season the resorts have been busy upgrading facilities. Last season was the best ever for our resorts, as was the season before that. Resorts have been expanding and making improvements to accommodate more skiers while also providing a better overall experience. Our website offers detailed profiles of each resort, including information about what is new this year.
All indicators suggest this will be another excellent season with plenty of that famous Utah powder. The resorts are all in great shape and ready to go.
Early season bookings have been strong. Our slopes are usually not overcrowded but there are three time periods when ski runs and nearby accommodations will probably be operating at capacity:
- Christmas/New Years
- Presidents Day Weekend
- Sundance Film Festival (January 19 to 29)
It is always a good idea to book early when planning a Utah ski vacation, and that is particularly important during the times listed above. Let us help you book your trip.
