Golf Utah's Red Rock
Spring comes early to the St George area. Already the grass is green and the golf balls are flying. Soon the almond trees will be in bloom. February and March are perfect times to visit that area.
St George is known as "Utah's Dixie" because of its mild climate. When the first Anglo settlers arrived in 1861, they set about growing cotton in an effort to make Utah self-sufficient during the Civil War. The early settlers also cultivated mulberry trees to produce silk.
Today St George is a thriving community and an attractive vacation destination. It is located in the southwest corner of Utah, about 90 miles NE of Las Vegas. It is near Zion National Park and is surrounded by scenic state parks and play areas.
St George is well known for its 13 excellent golf courses, all of which can be played year-round. Some of these courses rank among the best in the Western US. The breathtaking, black lava-rock of Entrada at Snow Canyon is one of Johnny Miller's finest creations. Coral Canyon Golf Club, by Keith Foster, is truly a pleasure to play and the newest addition to the area, Sand Hollow Golf Club by John Fought, was recently named the 7th Best New Public Golf Course in the country, according to Golf Digest.
Late February and March are ideal times to hit the links in St George. The weather is usually very nice, with daytime temperatures often climbing into the upper 50s and low 60s. The courses are never crowded during the early spring period.

Late Winter Skiing
Ski conditions will be generally good at Utah resorts for another month or more. Some resorts offer great discounts as the season draws to a close. Watch our ski packages for the latest deals.
Brian Head ski resort is located just 84 miles from St George. During spring, many people do a combination ski and golf vacation. If you want, you can actually ski Brian Head all morning and then golf in St George all afternoon. Not a bad way to compress time.
As the weather warms, people shed layers. In April, enthusiasts will be skiing and boarding in shorts and swimsuits. Most resorts close for skiing in mid or late April, although some will stay open into May if snow conditions permit.
Snow conditions are excellent right now at snowmobile complexes around the state, and will remain good into April or May. Many Utah lodges and outfitters can help you rent machines or will take you on a guided tour.
Now's a great time to take a golf and/or snow vacation.
